Have you previously volunteered on a Power Ranch Committee? If so, what committee and how long?
I began actively participating as a homeowner in late 2023. Since then, I have attended every board meeting and participated in all Knolls committee functions. I have devoted time to understanding our landscape management issues and have proposed solutions to the committee members for the identified problems. Throughout this process, I have gained substantial knowledge about our community’s CCRs and have been actively seeking resolution for operational discrepancies that have been ongoing since 2011. I have submitted an application to join the lifestyles committee, recognizing its pivotal role in our community. I am eager to leverage the knowledge and experiences I have acquired over the past year to advocate for my fellow residents.
Have you ever served on an HOA Board or Committee? If so, please describe.
While I have not previously served directly on an HOA Board or Committee, my extensive volunteer work and professional leadership roles have equipped me with valuable skills applicable to this position. For example, during my volunteering at Saint Mary’s Food Bank, I led efforts in planning and implementing the distribution of donations, necessitating strong organizational and problem-solving skills akin to those needed in HOA management. Professionally, I have managed diverse teams to meet project deadlines effectively, ensure budget adherence, and maintain high standards in corporate environments. These experiences have refined my abilities in conflict mediation, resource management, and communication—skills that I believe are vital for effective HOA governance.
Why do you want to be a Power Ranch Board member?
My motivation to serve as a Power Ranch Board member is rooted in a desire to bring about positive, meaningful change within our community. My involvement in board meetings since late 2023 has revealed a significant disconnect between the board and the residents it serves—a gap I am eager to bridge. My commitment is not just to represent but to actively listen, engage, and respond to the concerns of my neighbors, ensuring that our community not only addresses persistent issues but also moves forward together.
What are the three most important issues you view for the Association and why?
1.) Financial and vendor management – I recognize that our community, as it ages, must prioritize preserving investments and mitigating liabilities. I advocate for improved oversight and accountability in managing our finances and vendor relationships. This involves diligent monitoring of service contracts and ensuring that our management company and attorneys consistently act in the best long-term interests of Power Ranch.
2.) Effective communication is also paramount. If elected, I will focus on closing the communicational gaps that currently hinder our community’s operation, ensuring transparency and fostering trust among residents.
3.) HOA dues, it’s clear that despite annual increases, the quality of amenities and overall neighborhood appearance has declined. My observations during HOA meetings suggest a pattern of potential overspending. As a board member, I would emphasize stringent budget control and prudent financial management to ensure that homeowner dues are used effectively, enhancing community living standards without unnecessary financial burden on the residents.
What experience or qualifications do you have that would lend strength to being a Board member?
My 15 years of experience in the insurance industry have been foundational in developing strong negotiation skills and an ability to find mutual benefits in client interactions. This background, coupled with my proficiency in contract interpretation and my experiences as a Power Ranch homeowner impacted by board decisions, positions me uniquely to contribute effectively to the board. I am committed to making informed and balanced decisions that consider the well-being and interests of all community members.
